![]() Feeling a bit over-exposed? Use the Colour Correction tool to improve washed-out pictures or photos. Oh, for goodness sake, not that man again. |
|
This gives you a border around
the edge of your image that you should leave blank. Use the Set by Pixel box to select how you want to space out your grid for example, every 20 pixels and click OK. Satori will now draw the grid across your text. ![]() Use gridlines to work more precisely on your drawings, and feel free to include photos that dont feature this particular person |
18 The colour correction curve If the colour of your image isnt correct, Satoris Colour Correction Curve can give you greater control over the final result. Open the curve by going to the Layer menu and pulling down to Colour Correction. When the Colour Correction window appears, click on the Curve tab. Now, if your picture has a blue tint that is washing out the photo, for example, select the Apply to Blue option and drag the points on the curve down and to the right. This decreases the amount of blue found in the picture. The curve can also be used to alter the Red and Green components of an image or even its entire tone just pick Apply to All. |
| Open the picture you want transformed into a modern masterpiece and select both the Rectangle and Filled icons from the Geometry Action palette. Switch to the FX-2 tab and click on CanvasFX before hitting Browse. When the Thumbnail browser appears, search for the Satori/CanvasFX directory and select the Warhol effect. Click OK and then use the cursor to drag a rectangle over the entire image. A couple of seconds later you will become the Marilyn Monroe of your generation. The CanvasFX folder also includes a host of other great filters, ranging from Frosted Glass to the ghostly Cloudy. | 16 Object picker Every new brush stroke or shape is recognised by Satori as an object in its own right. Clicking on the Object button found at the bottom of the Actions palette opens the Object picker, which lists every object that makes up the finished picture. You can select any particular object by clicking it, and press Select for Edit to highlight it on your Canvas or Rename to give it a particular name. |
19 Creating a CanvasFX After youve gone to all the trouble of creating a particular effect, such as the soft-focus one we show you how to create on page 87, chances are youll want to use it again in the future. Save yourself the trouble of recreating it step-by-step by saving the entire effect as a CanvasFX filter. Once youve completed the effect you want, select File, Save As. |
| 13 Photoshop PSD format and Satori Satori is one of the few graphic packages that can open and edit Photoshop PSD documents. Just make sure that every layer of the PSD document is saved in RGB mode, as Satori doesnt support Photoshops CMYK option, unfortunately. |
The Object picker is especially
useful when deleting objects that you no longer want or are completely hidden behind
something else. Remember that fewer objects on a picture means faster loading and saving times of the file later. 17 Layer upon layer You can add as many layers as you wish while working on a Satori project. |
Browse to the Satori/CanvasFX
directory, enter a name for your effect and click OK to bring up the Save Canvas
window. Make sure that you check the Convert Canvas to CanvasFX filter format box, and click on OK. Highlight all the options in the Select FX Replacement Bitmap window which will then pop up, and again hit OK. Your newly-created effect is now safely stored away in the CanvasFX folder, ready for you to apply to any new images. |
| 14 Insert a logo The best way to add a logo to a photo or design is to use Satoris mapping tool. That way you can make it the right size and get it in the right place. From the Geometry Action palette, highlight both the Rectangle and Filled buttons before moving over to the Map tab and clicking the Use Mapping button. Use the Thumbnail browser to search for your logo and then select Keep Aspect to make sure that the logo remains the same shape no matter how big it is.Position the logo where you want it to be on your picture and drag the mouse across it to create a rectangle the size you want the logo to be. When you release the mouse button a scaled copy of your logo will replace the rectangle. |
First, click on the Layer
button at the bottom of the Action palette to bring up the Layers window
this shows a thumbnail of each layer in order. To bring an
individual layer to the top, simply click on its thumbnail, hold down the mouse button and
drag it to the top of the list. |
20 Exporting your work When youve finished your work you can export the Satori canvas as a number of the major bitmap file formats, including TIFF, JPEG or BMP. To do this, select File, Save As. Choose a format and a name for your work, then click OK. This will bring up the Save Bitmap As window, which enables you to set the size of the image you want to output as well as the DPI .
